Flavor of Mexico, Oaxaca.

Oaxaca.

“The flavor of Mexico truly comes alive in Oaxaca”.

Oaxaca stands as one of Mexico’s premier states, boasting an abundance of natural beauty and cultural richness that is simply unparalleled.

Every time I return to this enchanting state, I find myself captivated by new sights and experiences waiting to be discovered.

My recent journey took me from Puebla to Oaxaca, a four-hour drive filled with breathtaking vistas along the way. Despite concerns about road safety prevalent in some parts of Mexico, our route to Oaxaca felt remarkably secure and hassle-free.

Upon arrival, I was struck by the transformed entrance to the state, a sign perhaps of the passage of time or my limited travels within Oaxaca. Regardless, I look forward to exploring more of this diverse region in the future.

Food.

The culinary scene in Oaxaca is a feast for the senses, offering a tantalizing array of flavors and dishes that reflect the state’s rich heritage. From savory Tlayudas to mouthwatering traditional delicacies, such as cecina and quesillo, every bite tells a story of Oaxacan culture and tradition.

Mezcal.

And let’s not forget about mezcal – Oaxaca’s iconic spirit that has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years. With a myriad of brands and flavors to choose from, sampling mezcal in Oaxaca is an adventure in itself.

Museums and More

In addition to its culinary delights, Oaxaca boasts a wealth of cultural attractions, including world-class museums and awe-inspiring archaeological sites like Monte Albán and Mitla. These sites offer a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and heritage of the region, showcasing the ingenuity and craftsmanship of its ancient inhabitants.

As Mexicans, it is our duty to explore and celebrate the cultural treasures of our homeland, from the temples of our ancestors to the vibrant traditions that define us as a people.

What’s Next.

Looking ahead, I’m eager to explore new destinations like Zihuatanejo, made more accessible by the recent completion of a new road. However, I know that Oaxaca will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to returning soon to continue my exploration of this captivating state.”
