The town has museums like the clock museum and wine museum, and also it has unthinkable scenarios like the mosaic that covers one of the walls of the municipal graveyard and the big balcony near. The place invites you to know the town day and night too.
By day there are several places you can visit, the main square shows its magnificent buildings.
Museums in Zacatlan.
The clock museum shows a performance at two different hours of the day with animatronics where they offer other suits from the states of Mexico, and while they dance, you can hear music from these states.
The wine museum is a short visit and explains the time and process the winery implements to create wine. The tour can end in 20 minutes and is not expensive for a quick visit.
Not far away, you can find the valley of Piedras Encimadas. It is at 30 minutes from the main square of Zacatlan. There is no fee to enter everything through donations that the tourist provides for the park’s conservation. The place is cared for with the payments you offered, and the efforts of locals take care of the place they visit.
In this park, nature created these stone sculptures; locals tell a story that giants made. Another probability is that someone out of space creates the place.
There are many stories about the creation of the park. Some activities for children and families include archery, zip line, and other activities. Inside the park, you can also find a place where you can eat.
What is also important is that the park can have unique rocks and formations similar to the meaning the locals give but also to what you want to believe. To visit most of the parts of the park you’ll need half a day is so big and be prepared to walk a lot.
Near Zacatlan, there are some famous waterfalls, and Tulimna that I visited is one of the waterfalls you can see; there are others around and also beautiful. You can’t miss visiting the Túliman waterfalls, one of the most impressive they have near.
The waterfalls divide into three stages, so you can have different things to do in the park. Admission is 100 pesos per person, and children and seniors pay half the price.
The first stage of the park is fascinating; there is a small viewpoint where you can appreciate the height of the waterfall. It is one of the highest in the garden; you can get close enough to feel the force of the water.
There are several activities to do in the park, like zipline, camping, climbing tree, and archery, similar to what you can find in Piedras Encimadas. These activities are in the last part of the park, and this is where your tour ends. Appreciating a place where nature is the main attraction is essential; locals promote the area, so people get in touch with nature.
